In the summer of 2020, I took on the role of Editor in Chief for the University of Waterloo student-run, peer-reviewed publiction galt. For a little over a year, I led a team of 20 graduate and undergraduate students through the creation of the publication’s third issue.
Throughout the project I was involved in: [1] the inception of the publication’s theme, which initially focused on the climate crisis, but soon expanded to encompass the many overlapping crises we faced during 2020; [2] the organization of a call for submissions which resulted in 16 selected contributions from over 50 student and alumni submissions across Canada; [3] the conducting, transcribing, and editing of eight original interviews with prominent architects, academics, and activists; and [4] the logistical realities of designing, editing, and selling a printed publication in the midst of a pandemic.
In addition to the publication, our team completely overhauled the website and social media presence. We also took on two side projects: the web series Watercooler Talk and the zine here & now.
